01/22/2010 TNK 2010 & Schubas 20 Recap

Lincoln Hall and Schubas thanks everyone who helped make Tomorrow Never Knows 2010 our best fest yet. Over five days, more than 4000 people took in 12 amazing shows and over 30 bands. Special thanks to our sponsors: Bud Light, Days Inn Chicago, Chipotle, Zipcar, The Chicago Reader, Novem, Mid-Town Instrument Rental, UR Chicago, Oh My Rockness, Delicious Design League, Chicagoist, Rock For Kids, Second Wave Music, Valslist, Reckless Records and Busy Beaver Button Co. and, of course, all of the bands:

Lee Fields & The Expressions | Clues | Bowerbirds | The Rural Alberta Advantage
Final Fantasy | Atlas Sound | Neon Indian | Voxtrot | Surfer Blood | The Cribs
JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound Skybox | Julie Doiron | Sharon Van Etten
Icy Demons | The Hood Internet | Solid Gold | Freelance Whales | Adam Green
Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers | Pomegranates | Netherfriends
Peter Wolf Crier | Shapers | Truman Peyote | Only Children | Gemini Club
Bear In Heaven | Lasers and Fast and Shit | The Dead Trees
Paul Green's School of Rock: Women Who Rock
Laugh It Up, Kid featuring Prescott Tolk, Cameron Esposito, James Fritz,
Adam Burke, Mike Sheehan, and Brad LaBree

While the fest was taking place, it did not escape us that Haiti was coping with its recent earthquake. While not planned, Schubas and Lincoln Hall  have donated a dollar from each TNK'10 advance ticket sold (almost $3,000). These funds will be sent to Save The Children to aid in Haitian relief. Save the Children are now racing to provide urgently needed medical attention, safe drinking water and other necessities to victims of this disaster. Having served the needs of some of Haiti’s poorest children and families since 1985, Save the Children is working for a cause we feel compelled to support.

We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to our success over the years with a special thanks to our sponsors Bud Light, The Chicago Reader, Days Inn Chicago and Boys Hope Girls Hope.  After all, it takes a village, right? With that in mind, we’d like to do our part in pitching in around here. At the beginning of 2009, Schubas pledged that one dollar for every advance ticket sold to our anniversary shows (almost $5,000 total) would be donated to the wonderful organization Boys Hope Girls Hope. This organization provides underprivileged children with arms-around care, safe homes and environments, a first-class education, opportunities to learn more about themselves and the world, and academic, financial, and spiritual support through college. Boys Hope Girls Hope empowers children to realize the potential that is within them. It’s a worthy cause we are very happy to contribute to.
