Cat Power

Cat Power

Charlyn "Chan" Marshall, a.k.a. Cat Power, settled in for two consecutive evenings at Schubas in December of 2000. Since then, she has gone on to garner the sort of critical acclaim and widespread appreciation that accompany collaborating with legendary soul players including guitarist/songwriter Mabon "Teenie" Hodges, bassist Leroy "Flick" Hodges, drummer Steve Potts, as well as contemporary musicians such as Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, M. Ward and Teenie Hodges (Al Green's guitarist). In 2006 Blender Magazine named her one of the hottest women in rock along side Joan Jett, Courtney Love, and Liz Phair. A possible acting career is also on the horizon, with rumored collaborations with Wong Kar-Wai and Vincent Gallo. Her latest record, The Greatest, made her the first female ever to win the annual Shortlist Prize, a music award given annually to an album released in the United States within the last year, as chosen by a panel of musicians, producers and journalists. Chan has earned the respect of her critics, her peers, and her fans. She earned the respect of Chicago those two nights in December, 2001.
